Angela Wu, piano

 

Angela Szu-Hsuan Wu began her musical training in her native country, Taiwan. After moving to Canada in 2008, she attended the Academy program at Mount Royal University in Calgary. At age 16, she was admitted to McGill University.

 

In her early years, Angela has received prizes and scholarships at local, provincial, and national levels in Canada, including the first prize at the Canadian Music Competition in 2012. After winning the Calgary Concerto Competition, she has been invited several times to perform with the Calgary Civic Symphony.

 

Angela has participated in masterclasses with extinguished pianists, such as Benedetto Lupo, John O’Conor, Konstantin Scherbakov, Philippe Cassard, and Yuja Wang. She has also attended numerous summer music festivals, including the Meadowmount School of Music in NY, the Adamant School of Music in Vermont, which led her to a performance at Carnegie Hall; as well as the International Music Workshop and Festival in Germany, and the Tibor Varga Academy in Switzerland.

 

Angela obtained a bachelor’s degree in performance from McGill University in 2016 and is continuing her studies there in Graduate Diploma in Performance, with scholarships. Her teachers include Sara Laimon, André Laplante, and Kyoko Hashimoto.
